Best results using the whole Olaplex system

Olaplex is a product line that repairs processed hair damage. I have damage from lightening done to try to blend my incoming gray hair so eventually, I will have all my natural hair and no color treatments at all. The highlights and lowlights, in combination with toner every 8 weeks have fried my hair and Olaplex is the only treatment system that has repaired the cuticle of my hair (smoothed it out) so that I don’t look like I have a head covered in straw. This product, No.4 is the Maintenance Shampoo. It should follow a treatment of No.3 which is used once a week or as needed. (Less if your hair is healthier and more if it’s not.) . The shampoo by itself leaves my hair feeling rough and it doesn’t rinse well, but when it is used and then followed by No.5 conditioner and No.6 leave-in conditioner, it works great! NOTE: No.1 and No.2 are done in-salon and the best results will be achieved right after those treatments and daily use of No. 4, No.5 and No.6.This stuff is expensive, but it takes very little to get a rich lather. It’s watery in its consistency, so you have to take care not to get too much running out of the bottle.I would never recommend this to anyone who has healthy hair already. It would be a waste of money. I would recommend it to those who have chemically processed hair that appears dull, dry or fuzzy, who are also committed to the whole system; both in the salon and at home. If you are willing to commit to the products and can afford to do so, it works, but you have to do them all to get the best results.I will be fully transitioned to my natural hair by the end of the year and will no longer need to use Olaplex as long as I don’t use color, highlight or bleach my hair. But for the in-between, this stuff is a life-saver to parched hair as it rebuilds the hair, smoothing and softening it as it goes. If you need to bring life back to over-processed hair, give this stuff a try.

Shampoo improves hair shine and texture but does have added fragrance

I really struggled to assign a rating to this product. On the one hand, it completely lives up to the claims of making hair shiny, soft, and manageable. After using this shampoo only once, my hair had improved texture and shine. I have incorporated the shampoo into a regular rotation of shampoos I use.Now for the only downside. The product rates a 4 on the EWG-Skin Deep website, a low, middle-ranking for allergies and toxicity. The individual ingredients meriting attention are fragrance (a Skin Deep rating of 8), citral (an SD rating of 5), and limonene (an SD rating of 5.) The vast number of other ingredients score 2s or 1s on the website. I have not experienced any skin irritation and find the shampoo to have a pleasant, not overpowering scent. The thick formulation leads to abundant lather. My hair feels soft and styles easily. I will continue to use the shampoo in a rotation with others because I love the way my hair looks afterward. I have not experienced any negative reactions.

    Great for Damaged Hair

This stuff works. It really does leave damaged hair looking and feeling better. it’s not a powerful as K18, but it’s not as expensive either. For daily use, this is a good choice for those with colored and/or damaged hair. Tames the brittle look without leaving hair oily. The scent isn’t strong and it seems to perform as advertised.

    Mind. Blown.

I’m about to take you for a little ride so if you’re not up for it, TL/DR; just buy it. It’s great.I have about waist length, very straight, unprocessed, fine, but very dense (think a scoop of angel hair vs the same scoop of regular spaghetti), brown hair. It’s always been relatively healthy and routinely trimmed. I wash and condition about once a week unless I get sweaty/dirty. I only blow dry when it’s washed/wet, but I do flat iron daily to smooth out any kinks from sleeping on it. BUT I started taking Accutane (rx for acne) about 6 months ago and it has completely destroyed my mane. It’s insanely dry, breaking, and looks like I have paint in my hair because there are so many split ends. I’m a bit of a product whore, but not out of control. I’ve typically used redkin, biolage, aveda, and similar products. It was hard for me to swallow paying $30 for EIGHT OUNCES. But, it came highly recommended by both my derm and other Accutane users, so I took the plunge. I got the shampoo, conditioner, and oil. Amazon mistakenly forgot my conditioner so I can’t comment on it quite yet, but I’m going to go out on a limb and assume it’s as great as the oil and shampoo. I can’t tell you, honestly, the last time I fully washed my hair with shampoo before tonight. I was a little over zealous with my portions… a little goes a long way with this shampoo. I went for a quarter sized, but probably only needed a dime. This stuff lathers like the silkiest, thickest, richest butter you’ve ever felt. It smells really good; light, clean, not floral or fruity, very neutral scent. The oil is exactly the same. I’m not sure if it really made a difference after one use or not, but I definitely think it will with repeated use. It’s a little pricey, but feels SO worth it. I’d like to tell you that I’ll update this review after a couple of weeks, but I will most definitely forget so you’re going to have to accept my first impression. If you’re on the fence, jump! I doubt you’ll regret it.

Fantastic for “ethnic” hair (coarse, thick, curly)

Reviews for hair products are useless if you’re not super specific about your hair type, so here’s mine: I have typical Israeli hair– very, very coarse, extremely thick, a ton of it, and wavy/curly. It’s halfway between typical “white” hair and “black” hair, but closer to the latter than former in terms of coarseness. Resultantly, most of the shampoos I’ve tried have wreaked havoc on my hair, completely drying it out and causing damage or just not working well. Recently, I started using a line called Curlmix. Their condition and moisturizer are great, but the shampoo didn’t work at all. After about two months of using their products, my roots started becoming extremely oily within 1-2 days of washing it (not normal for me) and even after I’d lather and rinse literally 4 times in one shower, I’d still come out, air dry my hair, and it would be literally just as greasy and dirty as when I got in, forcing me to then use other shampoos that would totally dry out my hair to the point of breakage. It was clear the Curlmix shampoo wasn’t cleaning a single spec of oil or buildup out of my hair, despite being labeled a “clarifying” shampoo. It was basically just a $20 bottle of nothing.OTOH, when I tried shampooing with other brands labeled as “ultra moisturizing” (such as Redkin), even after using tons of conditioner and moisturizer after, my hair would come out completely dried out and fried. On a recommendation, I tried Olaplex shampoo, but used it in combination with Curlmix Conditioner and Moisturizer. Although I have to use a very significant amount of moisturizer, my hair finally comes out wavy and healthy looking, not-fried (thanks to the curlmix) and not covered in buildup or oil (thanks to the olaplex). It cleans thoroughly and lathers well (I’ve never had a sulfate-free shampoo lather like this), but doesn’t dry out my hair to the point where plenty of conditioner and moisturizer won’t do the job.Every time I see a hair product that says “for every hair type” I cringe, because it usually means “for white women with fine, soft, thin, straight hair.” Kudos to olaplex for actually creating an awesome product that works for hybrid hair types!

    Great product

I love this product. It makes my scalp feel good and fresh. My hair has body and bounce as if it was styled at the salon. My only complaint is that the bottle leaks. I travel a lot so I’ve been losing a lot of product. This is with the large size and travel size bottles. It costs too much to not have better packaging (buyer beware).

    A Game-Changer for Hair Care!

The media could not be loaded.

I recently tried the Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo, and I must say it has completely transformed my hair care routine. As someone with color-treated and chemically processed hair, finding the right shampoo that not only cleanses but also nourishes and repairs is crucial. Olaplex No. 4 did not disappoint!Firstly, the scent is delightful and not overpowering. The shampoo lathers well, providing a luxurious and pampering experience in the shower. It leaves my hair feeling clean without that stripped or dry sensation that some shampoos can cause. The real magic, however, happens after the wash. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in the overall health of my hair since incorporating this product into my routine. My hair feels softer, stronger, and remarkably more manageable. The Olaplex formula truly lives up to its promise of repairing and maintaining hair bonds.Another standout feature is its color-preserving properties. Having invested time and money into my hair color, I’m thrilled to see that this shampoo helps extend the vibrancy of my color-treated hair, making salon visits less frequent. While the price may be a bit higher compared to other shampoos on the market, the results are worth every penny. A little goes a long way, so the bottle lasts a decent amount of time, making it a cost-effective investment in the long run.In conclusion, if you’re looking for a shampoo that not only cleanses your hair but also repairs and maintains its health, Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo is a game-changer. It’s become a staple in my hair care routine, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their hair care experience.

Apparently I have boujie hair according to my hairstylist. She recommended this for me as my hair was dry, damaged, and breaking. I have Lupus so my hair is also needing additional love. After using I was able to run my fingers through my hair without it getting caught. Worth the money for sure.

    Far Exceeded My Expectations

I have no idea why I bought this but I’m glad I did. I was always cynical toward high priced shampoos. I would spend a bit more on special treatments but I always figured that shampoo is just get your hair clean so why splurge… Normal me would never spend $30 on a tiny bottle of shampoo. Life crisis me did. I normally use suave or pantene , just the deep cleansing ones, and since my hair has extensions in it I always had to use quite a bit to make sure it all got all over my head, through all the thick hair and I went through large $6 bottles rather quickly. I have bought, once or twice, expensive salon shampoos, Aveda, etc, but felt like I had to use a ton for them to actually get my scalp/hair clean. I was terrified this would last maybe 3 shampoos for me when I saw the bottle lol. The first time I used it, I used way less than I normally would of my other shampoos and it just kept multiplying itself, maintaining a THICK consistency, every time I ”shmoished” it around my head, lathering it around very thoroughly. I could have used even half the portion I tried. It’s the most incredible thick creamy sudsing, CLEANSING shampoo. It will probably last about 3 months and I’m fine with that at this price. It actually made my scalp and hair feel totally squeaky clean and fresh, without making it feel dry or tangled. It’s a miracle you guys. Just buy it. Life crisis or not. Just buy it. lol – oh and a bit of background, I have professionally platinum balayaged hair, and even though the bleaching process is the best of the best, we still need to repair and help the hair, so for me it’s all about the bonding products and they DO work. I’ve noticed my hair getting longer than ever because it was not breaking off, almost as long as my extensions now, but not as thick- yet, but still preserved what little I had left to grow it longer…then I graduated to the original and top product in that category (olaplex) and my blonde is now super shiny and feels like silky brand new hair. I really trust this will continue and even exceed in preserving my hair than the cheaper ”bonding” products I was using. I use Oleplex 3,4, and 5 now and I will not go back to anything ever again. If you want platinum AND long healthy soft shiny hair…these three are what you need.
