Depends what you blend it with example juice, smoothie it will take some flavor of it away but a lot, the unflavor has flavor but it doesn’t also, but put it in a strong milkshake it won’t, I put mines with peanut butter, abuelita chocolate and it taste so good
Jennifer Martin –
I’ve tried many proteins over the years and this is might be the best tasting one ever for me. I mix with almond milk, some peanut butter, some Philadelphia cream cream, and ice cubes in a nutra bullet for about 30 seconds…almost as good as a milkshake but very low sugar/carbs. Wife really likes it too.

I love this stuff! I am usually able to pick out the taste of protein powder in anything and this stuff is truly “unflavored”! Blends well into smoothies, oatmeal, homemade protein bars, etc. Highly recommend!
C. Kellam –
You need to keep it in a huge container to keep the scoop it comes with because the scoop handle is sooo long. Great value and quality plain protein.
Analisa Perez –
My husband and I have had protein shakes as a breakfast staple for years. We started looking for a more cost effective product that still tasted good. This is it!! It’s not grainy, not too sweet and so affordable. Well worth it. Will definitely order again.

Good value for the money

I bought this as a thinner for the overly sweet flavored powders. It doesn’t dissolve but blends well and not too chalky tasting. I’ve added other unflavored brands to foods with mixed results, the textures where affected. I don’t use this for that purpose.

I am 345 pounds with 24 percent body fat and aiming for that Eddie Hall body. That means I need a LOT of protein. If I was consuming the amount I’m supposed to, I’d go through this 5 pound stuff in about a month. Instead I am only consuming about 1.5 pounds a month.I can confirm this stuff doesn’t go bad very fast, even after about 3 months it’s pretty much like new. I am about to buy another one as I’m almost out.I eat unflavored ONLY. Don’t buy flavored, it’s very unhealthy and choke full of bad stuff like carcinogens and artificial flavors. The unflavored is often more pure and undiluted. The only bad part is even if you get the flavored stuff, it’s a lot like drinking chalk. I wish there wasnt a pure protein bar, shake, powder that wasn’t like chalk. I mix the unflavored with chocolate milk and that seems to go down the easiest for me.I have tried ALL the protein powders, been a bodybuilder/athlete for a while. The hardest part isn’t even working out or eating all the foods. It’s been getting the protein… The sheer amount I have to consume is inhuman. 230 grams is like 10 burgers to give you an idea. That’s if I eat lean meat… Or 2 pounds of steak. Imagine having to eat 2 pounds of steak alone every single day just to get your much needed protein intake… If I had Eddie Halls income I’d not have an issue with protein. Eddie Hall mentioned he spends about 100k a year on his body and I wholeheartedly believe it. I think it’s more.So imagine how grateful I am to see 5 pounds of unflavored protein at a reasonable and sustainable price. Its pure, undiluted, tasteless protein powder. It has allowed me to finally consume as much protein as I want without it breaking the wallet. Just like with ALL protein, keeping it down is hard. Protein powder is like fine wine, your body has to get used to it. At first I had a lot of trouble keeping it down but now I can chug 50 grams without much issue. I mix it with pure undiluted unflavored creatine with chocolate milk and it’s great. I will admit I’d so much rather eat 2 pounds of steak but I am not that wealthy.

My product wasn’t available & I didn’t think I’d get the same chocolate flavor from another brand, but this is just as good…and less expensive.

I like that this blends well for protein shakes. This is the exact form of protein powder I was looking for.

The quality and taste of this protein powder is top notch. It mixes well in everything from water to a full on large protein shake with multiple ingredients. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone in the market for a good quality protein that is also priced well.

I’ve been using Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard for the last decade but prices have almost doubled $80+, and the flavors becane boring. Picked up this Nutricost Whey knowing their background with testing etc, and although I found it to be almost too sweet on day 1, I’ve grown accustomed to it and find it to be super good. Peanut Butter/Chocolate flavor is my jam. Mixing a banana into my blended with the protein makes it even better. Mixes in a shaker pretty easily too with minimal clumping if any. Highly recommend.
Linda –
I’ve been using protein powders for about 20 years, and I’ve tried many brands in my time. I usually use vanilla flavored protein, as that flavor tends to compliment just about every other type of flavor one would mix it with. Since a lot of my regular protein brands have jumped up in price severely, I figured I’d give this one a shot and see how it was. When it comes to taste, this brand’s vanilla flavor has a distinct buttery overtone that can be hit or miss, depending on how one is planning to use it. For baking (Yes, try baking with whey powder to boost up the protein content of muffins or whatever), this might be a real win! Most vanilla flavored protein won’t add much sweetness to things, but it will contribute to the overall result in terms of flavor (for better or worse). For my preferences, the flavor detracts from how I use it. I’m prefer a much more straightforward vanilla flavor, and the buttery flavors just throw me off. You might personally like that, and if so, then this is the protein for you! Another small gripe is that when I mix this with my shaker in my post-workout concoction, it tends to foam up A LOT. I attribute this to the fact that all the protein in this is whey CONCENTRATE, and not a mix of isolate AND concentrate, which is what I’m used to. No matter what, protein is protein, and whether it’s concentrate or isolate, the protein amount and quality is the same in the end. The difference is that isolate is approximately (by volume) 90% protein and concentrate is approximately 79% protein, which means that there’s a bit more of the other components of the milk that the whey originally came from that are present. A bit more fat, sodium, and cholesterol will be in it, but a far smaller amount than whole milk, of course. All this to say that when I mix my shake, I have to let it sit on the counter undisturbed for over 10 minutes just to get the foam to decrease and become somewhat drinkable. It still has a lot of foam after that, but at least it’s not an overwhelming amount at that point. In conclusion, I think this protein is a price conscious smart buy, assuming the cost (about $56 a lbs at the time of writing this) stays relatively the same. I like the consistency of the dry powder, as it’s a satisfying granular texture vs the flour-like texture I’m used to with the isolate dominant varieties I normally consume. The buttery taste is ok, but the foaming really gets to me. It’s such an annoyance that I’ll probably keep searching for a similarly priced product that won’t foam as much after mixing. If you’re OK with a little extra foam and a buttery vanilla flavor, then this is right for you.

I’ve been using Nutricost Whey Protein Concentrate in Chocolate Peanut Butter for about 2 years now, and I must say, my experience has been consistently impressive. Here’s why:Affordable Price: This product has maintained its affordability over the years. Even after two years, it still stands as an excellent value, offering 5 pounds of high-quality protein at a wallet-friendly price point.Delicious Flavor: The Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor has been a delight from day one. I’d still rate it an 8 out of 10 for taste. It continues to strike the perfect balance between rich chocolate and nutty peanut butter notes, making it a satisfying part of my daily protein intake. No Clumping: Mixing this whey protein concentrate has always been a breeze. It consistently blends smoothly and without clumps, whether I’m using a shaker bottle or a blender. The convenience factor has never wavered.Gentle on the Stomach: Throughout these two years, I’ve never experienced any stomach discomfort with Nutricost’s Whey Protein Concentrate. It has remained easy on my digestive system, even with regular use. It’s remarkable how this product has remained a reliable and valued part of my fitness journey over the years. Whether you’re a long-time user like me or someone considering trying it for the first time, I can confidently say that Nutricost Whey Protein Concentrate in Chocolate Peanut Butter is a consistent performer that delivers on affordability, flavor, mixability, and stomach-friendliness. It’s a protein supplement you can count on.

I do like this product because it uses sucralose as a sweetener. I wish Nutri cost would switch over to allulose for its sweetener, since that tends to be the best of the artificial sweeteners. But I’ll take sucralose any day of the week, since it more closely resembles sugar without any funky aftertaste or nasty artificial fake sugar flavor. The taste of this product is great! Tastes exactly like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup when mixed up. Almost like salted caramel in a way as well.It does mix up extremely well, especially in a Shaker with one of those spiral ball things that helps with the agitation process and the mixing.I’ll usually go to the gym, and then mix two scoops of this to get 50 g of protein with a full 16 oz of water. Mixes up great, not too thick or thin, and the flavor is absolutely phenomenal and delicious.I am a big fan of Nutra Cost products in general. In my honest opinion, they do make some of the most pure stuff out there. However, I think a lot of OTHER companies buy their stuff add fillers, and then relabel it.If you want the best, go with this product and any other flavors within the Nutri Cost lineup.

I recently purchased this protein powder, and overall, I’m pleased with its quality and versatility. One of the key features that attracted me to this product is its unflavored nature, which aligns perfectly with my preferences. I typically incorporate protein into my morning routine by adding it to my daily smoothie, and this product could serve that purpose admirably.Quality and Taste:The protein powder is of excellent quality, with no discernible flavor, exactly as described. This neutrality allows it to seamlessly blend into various recipes without overpowering the natural flavors of other ingredients. It’s ideal for individuals seeking a protein supplement that doesn’t alter the taste profile of their favorite beverages or dishes.Texture Considerations:While the lack of flavor is a definite plus, I did notice that the powder tends to increase the volume and alter the texture of my smoothies. It imparts a whipped and creamy consistency, which may be desirable for some users but wasn’t quite in line with my personal preference. However, I don’t consider this a flaw of the protein itself, merely a characteristic to be aware of for those with specific texture preferences.Versatile Application:Despite the texture issue in my smoothies, I still plan to utilize this protein powder in other recipes. I’m exploring options like protein bites to complement my morning routine. It’s reassuring to know that even if it doesn’t suit one application perfectly, the product’s quality ensures it won’t go to waste. This unflavored protein powder offers excellent quality and versatility for those seeking a neutral supplement to enhance their dietary intake. While it may affect the texture of certain recipes, its adaptability makes it a valuable addition to any health-conscious individual’s pantry.Pros:High-quality protein sourceNeutral flavor profileVersatile for use in various recipesCons:Alters smoothie texture

good choice, fine taste. with a little coffee and milk reminds me of that italian coffee for children, frapa something.

Works so so well and it less than a dollar per serving. I add a little cocoa powder to it to make it more chocolaty but it’s really good on its own too. So happy I invested in this giant bin of protein powder

Works great and decent value. Does it’s job and very light and fluffy compare to others.

This protein mixes well with just water and is a very fine powder. Little to no clumps. It tastes good as well. Based on the macros the calories and protein are a decent ratio and it is a good value compared to other name brands. Is not very thick when one scoop is added to about 12 oz of water.

Great if you want to throw in a banana or handful of spinach or berries. Much better than all the vanilla or chocolate flavored options.

This is the only protein powder we buy. It tastes way better than other whey proteins with all the added flavoring and caking agents (like a very rich milk), and with only one ingredient I feel a lot better putting it in my body than all the artificial sweeteners. The empty containers also make for great planters if you cut drainage holes. If you mix it properly, there’s minimal clumps. I personally use a small hand-pull mixer to blend the scoop with some milk, then pour into my cup with more milk for the smoothest mix. This latest container has both smaller dimensions than the previous ones as well as revised portions. The smaller size makes sense, as there’s less empty space at the top than when the last ones arrived, but I don’t care much for the new portion sizes. Considering the scoop is the exact same size as the older ones, I’m assuming they re-tested the product and found there wasn’t actually 30 grams, and marketing said they needed to boost the serving number to make up for the lower protein. If it’s still the same stuff I’m sure we’ll manage

As I just opened my 10th 5lbs container, I’ll leave a review in the occasion of the milestone. mostly, what motivated me to write a review was the 9th container that came with a “defective” product and upset a lot my patience, took a toll on my diet and deeply jeopardized the trust on the brand (will be explained below).THE NEEDS:having to take protein shakes at least twice a day, 7 days a week, flavor is the Achilles heel of all of them. Almost all whey protein brands and flavors available on the market have a decent to delicious flavor in my opinion, apart from just a few minor exceptions that tastes awful. but drinking it consistently at least twice a day, every single day for years in a row changes the perspective on flavor. a product that is delicious may quickly start to saturate the palate and turn into an unbearable experience. after hopping through several flavors from several brands, I landed first on Isopure brand, which I consumed roughly 40lbs along the time. it’s a great product for sure.at a given moment in my life, my need have changed and I was forced to keep 24/7 pristine plain natural blood work lab results in order to constantly prove 100% perfect natural health condition (for reasons that I do not want/need to disclose here). at this point, keep taking Isopure products was completely out of consideration as all of them are enriched with high levels of several vitamins and minerals, which makes it a great product, but still on the most expensive side of the whey available in the market and no longer suitable for my needs, as excessive vitamins and minerals would be caught and fail my blood work. just like the vitamins and minerals, I had to stop with creatine and beta-alanine (that mistakenly fails blood work for kidney and liver malfunction, respectively). so on my new diet journey I had to find a new whey protein that was good enough, without any added vitamins and minerals, cost effective and the most important, tasty and capable of resisting the test of time. after running through several brands again, I found out that most supermarket branded whey proteins (e.g. walmart, wegmans, giant, aldi, hy-vee) are on the cheapest side of the wheys, usually not enriched with anything and tasty, but only wegmans passed the test of time keeping tasty after several shakes over months. but I also needed to have a reliable source of whey on the contiguous 48 states, as I needed to travel nationwide constantly and wegmans is pretty much a wealthy neighborhood upper east coast chain, not available in the rest of the country. so I was left with anything sold online that could be shipped nationwide and my 1st source was amazon.on my journey through amazon whey proteins, I finally landed on Nutricost vanilla flavored. Nutricost is noticeably one of the cheapest supplements brand in the market awarding 1st place for most of their products and 2nd or 3rd place loosing only for a minimal fraction of pennies. their whey is good enough for non professional athletes like me, with absolutely no addition of vitamins and minerals, with an amazing flavor that on the edge of 50lbs already consumed has proven its excellence. their vanilla flavor combines very well with water, milk, breakfast cereals, cake mixes and almost every fruit you could name to prepare a smoothie on a blender (being my favorites the mango and peach smoothies). not the easiest to mix on water or milk if you only have a spoon or shake, but for sure fairly easy. and when compared to the price of the brands with vitamins and minerals enriched whey proteins (e.g. Isopure), Nutricost is still the best from the point of view that you can purchase any vitamins and minerals supplement available on the market, in addition to the “plain” Nutricost whey protein, that would better fit your supplementation needs and still keep it cheaper than buying a whey already enriched that hardly will suit your supplementation needs.THE INFAMOUS 9TH CONTAINER:Nutricost’s traditional Vanilla flavor is supposed to be sweetened. the only unsweetened whey protein that Nutricost sells is also unflavored (that I never bought). but I received as my 9th 5lb container an unsweetened Vanilla flavored whey protein. at that time I though “is this a defective batch or their new formula from now on?” and this doubt wasn’t answered till I’ve ordered the 10th container and find out that it came sweetened again. and the toll the unsweetened whey took on me was gaining 8lbs of weight in 1 month as I had to sweeten 5lbs of whey with sugar, making me to drink almost 2 years worth of sugar in a single month, as I wasn’t willing to reduce the respective calories on the rest of my already very restrictive diet. I could’ve used artificial 0 cal sweeteners for sure, but at the risk of unintentionally adding too much artificial sweetener and make it taste like battery acid, I preferred to be safe with sugar than sorry with sweetener. it was for sure disappointing, to say the least. this experience put a very big concern about Nutricost quality control and honesty, given that one of their containers came “defective” but the 8th, 9th and 10th containers are all marked with the same expiration date 09/2026 and same LOT#23091348, even coming from 3 different Amazon warehouses (nearby Baltimore MD, Daytona Beach FL and Lincoln NE), bought each one in different months and clearly having a different batch on the 9th container. if Nutricost ever have interest on find out what happened, I kept the 8th, 9th and 10th containers, being the 8th empty and contaminated with both 8th and 9th container products, the 9th with 3-4 scoops of leftover preserved and not mixed/contaminated, and the 10th full (opened 1h ago for taste testing). if Nutricost or any representative ever get in touch I’ll update it here, if not updated is because I didn’t get contacted.

With so many protein powders on the market full of artificial flavors and preservatives, it’s nice to find one with none of that! This is best mixed in smoothies, milkshakes, meal powders (like huel), even mixed with milk to eat with cereal. Best to mix in a shaker bottle as it doesn’t mix well when mixing by hand.
